An AFA '09 Post.... Or Something Like It

Prologue:
Okay, so I changed my mind about a "proper" AFA '09 post, due to the LARGE amount of photos and the inability to arrange photos chronologically thanks to Blogger's sucky photo management system. So I'll just post up the photos I like. The photos from the entire trip are already in my Facebook photo album anyway. neutral

Rhea, Yih Chien and I departed for Singapore in the FirstCoach bus from Bandar Utama at 8 a.m.eek We got through Singapore customs around 1 p.m. and the bus dropped us all off at Novena Square. Me and Rhea were feeling pretty hungry, so we bought a curry puff each, then we took the MRT to Bugis, where our accommodation for the trip was located. It's a backpacker guesthouse called Superb Hub @ Bugis and it was a nice little place. The owner was very friendly, the place was clean and it was situated near to the MRT station as well as Bugis Junction. Probably the only thing we could complain about was that the toilet was kinda small. redface

After unpacking our stuff and resting for a while, we took the MRT and went to Singapore Plaza for some shopping with Yvonne. ^^ YC could probably write a story about our "destined" meeting with her at the Dhoby Gaut MRT elevators, lol

First things first, LUNCH! What better than fast food that you can't get in KL, right? So we went right to MOS Burger to eat. mrgreen

Me with my yakiniku rice burger and Rhea with her chicken teriyaki burger. The Christmas decorations are all up in Singapore! Wheee~ We've reached Orchard Road! Pretty, aye?

Our last stop before going back to the guesthouse was Kinokuniya, where Rhea managed to find her Axis Powers Hetalia manga. Yay~~ ^^

Yummy Food: Fried mars, sausage & potato, takoyaki

It's THE BIG DAY!! The day we'd been dreaming for, rushed assignments for and acquired money for. blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com
Tickets started selling at 9 a.m., so we were up by 7 a.m. We took the MRT to City Hall, where YC stayed back to wait for Yvonne, while me and Rhea went ahead to Suntec Convention Centre to queue up for tickets. 8.30 a.m. and there was already a sizable crowd there. 9 a.m. and the place was PACKED with people. O_O

Waiting in line to buy tickets. biggrin Yatta! We finally got our tickets! (S$15 for one-day entry)
A guy with a reporter-type video camera even took a video of us with the tickets, probably because we were squealing like rabid fangirls in our excitement. -___-"
Tamagotchi! Hahaha, so cute right?
Domo-kun plushies! Rawr!
The Moe Moe Kyun maid cafe, just opening for business.
Looks like the maids are getting a pep talk before starting their jobs for the day. wink

The insanely huge and awesome Bandai booth.

And here are just some of the figurines on display, courtesy of various figurine companies and Danny Choo.

See who I spotted!
The Tokyo Dance Trooper himself!

This is what Danny Choo looks like without the Storm Trooper helmet. Tee hee!

Okay, now for the cosplayers. ^^
Zero from Vampire Knight aiming for, yup, the eneloop doggie's butt. LOL

2 very good-looking cosplayers. I think they're in D.Gray-man uniforms, but I'm not really sure. AND I forgot to ask them. *facepalms*

Rhea's favourite: America-san from APH. blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

We even managed to get Jason from Friday the 13th to pose for us.

A very amazing Ichigo Kurosaki cosplayer.

There were many other fantastic cosplayers walking around on that day, but I'm too lazy to post all their photos. Sorry!! blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

Now it's time for the AFA '09 Regional Cosplay Competition!!
We managed to snag places in the last row of seats. Bwahahahaha!

The 3 judges and the 2 pretty hosts. Yes, that is Kaname☆ on the left. ^o^

One of the finalists of the cosplay competition and my favourite! blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

Kaname giving one of the super cute Thai contestants a hug. Awww...

All the contestants up on stage, waiting for the final results...

...which went to team 00 Evolution from Singapore! Congratulations, Gundam-san! ♥

After the competition ended, we left to go for lunch. There were many other cosplayers outside the exhibition hall, getting their stuff ready and posing for cameras. smile

K-On! cosplay group.

Weird but hot combination: Yuuki Cross from Vampire Knight (left) and black and white Chii from Chobits (right).

I'm starving! It's time for lunch~
My yummy curry chicken chop rice and iced lemon tea. ^^

This was YC's idea! Our loot from AFA '09 (well, most of it anyway). XD

Four very happy people! biggrin

Today was a very memorable day too, because I finally got to meet my "jie" - Yvonne!
Thank you so much for dinner and bringing us around Clarke Quay and Esplanade. I'll treat you to yummy food when you come to KL next time, kays? blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

This photo is kinda dark, but I like it. ✿

Our last day in Singapore. cry It was a wonderful 3 days with wonderful people. In the morning, we went to nearby Bugis Junction and Bugis Village to shop for souvenirs and stuff before going back to the guesthouse to pack and leave. We actually managed to find The Plaza where we were due to depart, with the help of one very friendly citizen. (I guess we were looking kinda lost on that overhead bridge, lol) Also, thank you to Uncle Andrew and Aunty Melissa for their efforts to help me locate The Plaza. It turned out to be The Plaza @ Parkroyal along Beach Road. Haha~

The bus left The Plaza sharp at 5 p.m. and we arrived safely back in Bandar Utama around 10 p.m. My parents and bro picked me up and then we went for "tong shui" at SS2 before going home. ^^

So... Before I end this post, let me show you my favourite 'loot' from AFA '09 - a Code Geass R2 Suzaku/Lelouch pillow!

That's all for today! A big thank you to all the people who made this trip possible and enjoyable; I hope that we can go again next year for AFA 2010!

Wait For It.....

I just realized that most of my pictures don't have a watermark or something on them. You know, those pesky little words that proclaim to one and all that you took those pictures yourself instead of filching them off somebody else's site. XD

So yeah, I won't be posting any AFA pictures until I've had them properly chosen, marked and stuff. (Read: Procrastination-in-progress)

Oh, and I feel like changing the whole look of my blog - AGAIN. I want to be able to do strikethroughs and underlines in my posts, dammit. >_>

A Trip To Satisfy My Inner Otaku (Until Next Year)

Yup, I'm back from my Singapore-AFA '09 trip.

My shoulders are sore and my feet are aching, but everything was worth it. TOTALLY worth it.

I've spent a good part of today resizing all the photos and uploading them on Facebook, so if you're in my friend list, you've probably seen them already.

I'll see if I have the mood to post them here as well and make it into a proper AFA blog post tomorrow.

Well, it's time for me to hit the hay and snuggle up with my Suzaku/Lelouch pillow. ♥

Holidays!

.break.down

I'm on a high. I don't know what kind of high it is but I'm definitely high on something.

I don't have any other way to describe it.

I've been awake for 24 hours and I don't even feel sleepy. O_o

Yup, I finally finished my last assignment for this 1 semester, and boy, it feels GOOD.
Like, AWESOMELY GOOD. MySpace

Just don't get me started on the time before I finished it. You don't wanna know.

Or you probably know already if you're in the same semester + course as me. lol *coughcrrprccscough*

Oh, and I was totally ecstatic this afternoon when I found out I got 15 extra marks for CRR! I love Monkey Majik even more now! XD

MySpace Wheeee~~ Even the rain couldn't dampen my spirits! (But apparently it wasn't enough to get me finished earlier either. Damn.) I was actually about to give up any hope that Ms. Natasha would post up anything about the extra credit essay. MySpace

Okay, back to the title topic: Holidays!!

I'll be going for Anime Festival Asia 2009 in Singapore! It'll be my first time going to such a big-scale event like this, so I'm really excited! ^o^ And also the first time I'm going with my college friends! =)

Anyway, it's time for me to go hand in my final assignment (for the semester/year), check my lists, pack my bags and get ready to have fun, fun, fun!

See ya'll next week!

The Vampire Diaries

Okay, so in the spirit of Friday the 13th, I decided to watch all of The Vampire Diaries episodes that I'd downloaded so far. (And also as part of my evil plan to PROCRASTINATE! Muahahaha!)

And I must say, Damon Salvatore [left] (played by Ian Somerhalder) is too gorgeously hot that I just had to post something about him.

Before I go into all out fangirl mode, you must know that I would have totally ignored and dismissed this series as just another trap for young people, especially with all the vampire craze going on, except for the fact that I'd actually read L.J. Smith's series with the same name last year, so I got curious and downloaded it. According to one of the websites, they tweaked the storyline a bit and added some characters, but to me, they essentially changed the entire thing! >_<

First off, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is supposed to be BLONDE. As in, smart-bossy-teenage-head-cheerleader-goes-through-parents'-death BLONDE. And don't even get me started on Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), who looks pretty much like the guy on the book cover but totally unlike how I imagined him in my head when reading the book. (I think I see a pattern here. Hot vampire guys in Laura's head =/= Hot vampire guys in other people's heads. O_o Hint: Edward Cullen) As for Damon... Well, let's just say the series has me more fascinated with the bad guy than the good guy.

I don't think I'm supposed to reveal any spoilers here or anything, but with the way the series is going, I doubt that it'll be anything like the book. I can only say that, after I read them over the second time around, I noticed that Stefan and Elena's story is pretty much happy ever after over, but there's still so much more to be discovered about Damon.

I KNOW! I have this fixation about the guy! Stop rolling your eyes. -_-"

Damon: I'm Damon, Stefan's brother.
Elena: He didn' tell me he had a brother.
Damon: Well, Stefan isn't one to brag.

Hah! Typical. I guess I have a thing for hot + sexy + sarcastic vampi- I mean, guys.

Photobucket The Salvatore brothers. ♥

Photobucket The 3 main characters of the series.

Photobucket Promotional poster.

Photobucket Damon Salvatore ♥

Photobucket Damon with his typical smug enigmatic expression. ♥

Photobucket Okay, Stefan looks pretty good here too.

Well, I'm off to continue watching episode 5 to 8 now. Enjoy the pics! ^^

Another Friday the 13th

Yay! It's Friday the 13th again!

Actually, I have no idea what else to say besides that. *cricket sounds*

So... Have a good day, people! Make sure to avoid walking under ladders and stay away from black cats! XD

The Original Emo Kid

Trust me, I've been waiting to type that for a looooong time now.

"Why?", you ask. Because I didn't have anything to back it up until now, that's why!

Let me take you back to an idle afternoon in 1995.

+
A 5-year-old child has a craft knife and a used up roll of cellophane tape in her hands. Nobody knows how or where she managed to get those two items. There is not a single person in sight, her actions are safe from prying eyes. She crawls under the long rattan settee in the living room and after contemplating the knife and the roll of used-up tape, starts to cut something, slowly and carefully. The only sounds that can be heard are the whirring of the ceiling fan above and somebody moving around in the kitchen.

After a while, the child stops cutting and crawls backwards out from under the settee. Carefully holding her hands away from her body, she slowly and carefully climbs up the stairs to the master bedroom. Looking around, she spots somebody sitting at the writing table in the corner and trots over to that person. She holds up a thumb, red and dripping with blood, all without saying a word or making any sound.

The woman at the table turns around and an expression of shock crosses her face, and lets out a small cry. Only then does the child let out a wail and lets the waterworks flow, as the pain from the cut registers in her mind.

So yeah, I was the original emo kid with a knife in her hands and blood all over her fingers.

And this is what that particular thumb looks like now.

So, remember kids, don't play with any knives or blades without parental supervision!

I couldn't resist throwing in some "emo quotes" I found off the internet. LMAO
Oh, here's the icing on the cake - the Chinese music industry's "Emo Song of the Year" (as voted by moi and her acquaintances)!

Tank -

"...All I Got Was This Lousy..." & Bizarre Dreams

So, it's literally a case of "My dad spent 15k and all I got was this piece of paper".

I mean, seriously.
Okay, okay, so they did invite us to some fancy convo held at KLCC or something, but it's just foundation, for crying out loud! I'll go to my degree convo when it does arrive, in like 3 years, thanks.
And I do admit, the transcript does look pretty nice, what with the hard plastic cover and 90gsm paper certificate. Ha! IMO, they should've given us a voucher for framing it up or something though. Wouldn't that be a nice touch?

Anyway, I wanted to post something yesterday, but I chickened out at the last minute. And it wasn't very interesting, just some random thoughts while surveying my room. Something along the lines of "I hate mess, but I somehow seem to create mess anyway".

OH! Nearly forgot. So probably some of you noticed my "The bizarre dreams are back" personal message in MSN. Let me tell you this, I really had this totally bizarre dream when I was having my afternoon nap just now!

So basically it's set in 1Utama, and there are lots of bakeries there. And I dreamt that dad, mum and me were there buying buns and stuff. If I remember correctly, dad went there to buy buns because he was feeling peckish, and after looking at all the delicious pastries arranged there, I also took a tray and started to take all these pastries (especially the danishes) and buns there. Oh, and I also took a slice of chocolate cake too! (This I remember vividly.) Then when the time came for us to go to the cashier, the total amount turned up to be....

RM310!!
Press that key, I know you want to.

OMG~ Talk about crazy. How could 2 trays add up to a total of RM310?! -_-" Even in the dream I could feel myself feeling shocked. LOL

I know, I'm babbling, jumping from one topic to another. Who cares? Let's throw in some more randomness: I need to finish watching Pandora Hearts so that I can concentrate on my CCS assignment!

P/S: I just loooooove Gilbert (the dark-haired guy). He's just so cool, yet gets angry easily and *poofs!* becomes a chibi. Or maybe I have a thing for non-blonde guys. Or both. XD

Blog On Hiatus

Okay, so I now officially announce this blog

hi⋅a⋅tus /haɪˈeɪ təs/
A break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.

(It actually translates to "blogger-is-too-lazy-and-has-nothing-to-blog-about".)

Of course, I could just get it into my head to blog about something or just do the good ole ranting thing.
