It was a dark and stormy night...

So after being handed a 500-word essay assignment by our dear English lecturer Ms Azizah last week (or was it the week before?), I finally got around to doing it at around 12.15 a.m. on the day it was due, which is today. Like I said before, procrastination dies really hard.

The title of the essay was pretty straightforward - "The Pen is Mightier than the Sword". I know some of the more... *ahem* clumsy people out there might just make a typo and link the 2nd and 3rd words together. XD But whatever - we're not talking about stationery size here.

The guy who coined the phrase was Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton for his play Richelieu in 1839. Basically, it means that words or ideas have more influence than action or violence.

Sir Edward also thought up the phrase "It was a dark and stormy night..." which is the archetypal example of a florid, melodramatic style of fiction writing. I just found out that Snoopy is very fond of using it for his novel, which he [tries to] type while sitting on the roof of his kennel.

Peanuts anyone?

Oh well, off to English.

I'll see you later.
